CV axle broke at inner joint, replaced with a new axle and when tested in gear transmission made loud grinding sound?

My driver side CV axle broke at inner joint boot broken bearing gone. I purchased a new CV axle from AutoZone for my vehicle spec and installed when tested in gear transmission made loud grinding sound (the same grinding sound it made when the 1st one broke) put back in park and inspected it and found the new CV axle at the inner joint the boot was seriously twisted around the shaft but not torn. We removed from the wheel hub again and untwisted it put it back in tested with just the rotor no wheel in the air was working as it should put wheel back on tested again and again grinding noise and twisted inner joint I’m at a loss I can’t find much info on such an occurrence.

Could you take a couple pictures? From the description it sounds like the outer wheel bearing or something related to it is locked up and it is trying to shear the axle off. The tri-pot shouldn't be able to twist that way because it would not move the vehicle.

Hi Steve. I wanted to wait until someone smart replied, but I did have a thought. For the boot to twist, the inner joint has to come apart, meaning the shaft pulled out of the housing. The vehicle is kind of too new for this, but a collapsed engine mount might let one end of the transmission sag, making the half shaft too short.

I'll be waiting to learn the solution.
