CV axle removal

2008 PONTIAC G6
141,622 MILES • 3.6L • 6 CYL • 2WD • AUTOMATIC

The CV axle separated from the back of the shaft behind the CV boot and casing. And left the tip of the shaft about 4 inches of the actual end of the shaft with the snap ring stuck in the transmission. I used a slide hammer and it jerked the snap ring from the inner casing where the boot is. how do I remove the rest of the axle shaft?

No, it's the tip of the actual Barr on number 11. That whole peace separate from the CV axle that's circled. it has a snap ring on the inside of that part and it had came undone the last picture is the part you have circled.

Hi,

Thanks for the pics. Is pic 1 indicating the broken part? I'm not sure what needs removed. Pic 3 is splined to fit on pic 1. I'm sorry. This should be simple but I can't picture what happened. The axle came apart from the component I circled in the exploded view. That side has a female spline that pushes over the output shaft on the transmission. That is where I'm getting confused.

Yes, pic 1 is the actual part that goes in pic 3. This is my 3rd CV axle i have done and never seen this before. Any advice?

Justin, please understand, not being there makes things difficult for me. I see the output shaft on the transmission and the half shaft that goes on it. It appears you have everything off. I'm not sure what you need at this point. Again, sorry to be such a pain.
