My nephew has the car listed above and he had accidentally cross threaded the spark plugs 2-3 months ago and now it started overheating and cutting out when driving it. Is that a complication of the cross threaded plugs?

Hi,

How were the threads repaired? Are you getting a code indicating the misfire is coming from the same cylinder where the damage was done?

As far as your question, make sure there isn't a leak around the spark plug where the threads were repaired. Other than a compression loss due to a leak, if you repaired the threads, that wouldn't be the cause.

Let me know.

As far as i know, they weren't repaired. The code it threw was saying it just needed a tune up.

Hi,

If he could reinstall the spark plug, it is tight and has no issues; cross-threading itself isn't the issue. if possible, let me know how the cross-threading was resolved.

I need to know the diagnostic code or codes it has. It sounds like he replaced the plugs a few months ago, so I'm unsure which direction to point you in without knowing the code. What you described can indicate a few different things and I don't want to misdirect you.

If possible, let me know what codes are present. That will help me determine what to check and I would be happy to further help with the issues.

Take care,

Joe
