Recently I noticed that while going over more pronounced bumps on the road (at highway speed) or taking a sharp right turn going 30-40mph there is what sounds like a creak / squeak coming from the driver's side front wheel well. It sounds metallic and only happens on right turns at the speeds indicated above.
Some background: Last week while the vehicle was parked, something backed in to it causing a grapefruit sized dent on the driver's side front fender and causing the steering to turn 90 degrees right from center. The vehicle drives fine, isn't out of alignment, the brakes feel fine and are not sticking, there are no tears in the CV boots, the suspension linkage appears to be in one piece. So the creaking may or may not be related to the dent.
I'm taking it in this Saturday to have the damage looked at, but before I go in I'm hoping to find out what may be causing the creaking so I have a general idea of what to expect to pay for repairs. I've read everything from the chassis may need to be lubed to CV joints need to be replaced.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
