While driving engine shut off and will not restart

My starter hung up and had to replace it, soon as I did the ignition switch when I turned it in the crank position wouldn't do anything. so I replaced all fuses and battery and all heavy duty wiring to the starter and fuse box under the hood. Now it turns over with the key but wont crank. Purchased a $40.00 tester and plugged it into the computer under the dash and read 1 code, crankshaft position sensor? Tired of replacing parts, would this make the vehicle stall and not crank back up when driving down the road? Had to pull it home again.
