No crank sensor! This is an oddball truck heavy duty with EEC system. Has intermittent shutting off and starting. No fire, has fuel pressure and turns over. Weather or heat doe snot change anything.

Too early for a crank sensor since it has a distributor.


Go to the ignition coil and be sure it has power to the coil. Then check the voltage on the negative side as well.

Tap test took me to coil plug was deteriorated and crumbling so I replaced that plug, will not quit long enough to test voltage.

This test is done with key on engine off. Use a test light . Check for power on the positive side. Then you should have the same voltage on the negative side.

Then crank the engine with the test light on the negative side and see if the test light flashes.

No voltage on the negative side would lead me to a ignition control module? Just waiting for it to quit again to do this test thank you.

If there is no voltage then the coil is bad.
