Where is the crankshaft position sensor located?

It is located behind the starter on the side of the block. It is not an easy part to replace as you need to remove a lot of parts to get to it. (Exhaust pipe, right hand axle, transfer case, starter are the large items) What is the issue you are having and what testing has been done to determine that it really is the crank sensor?
