Thank you. I was about to pull the timing belt cover to change sensor. YouTube video said that's where it's located.
Another quick question about the same car. dash cluster lights, heat/AC, and tail light are not working. Charge indicator light is on in dash. I tested the alternator and it turned out to be bad. Confirmed by auto parts store. My question is, would a bad alternator cause these systems to not work?

I removed the starter motor and I didn't see the sensor there unless i'm totally blind. Enclosed is a photo of behind the starter motor. Looking down from top of engine.

I can't see the sensor. Can we double check the year of the car to make sure it is a 2008? Please post your new question here, you must be logged in.

The engine is from a 2008 Kia Optima. The body is model year 2006 Kia Optima LX.

Update: i believe i found it. On back of engine between tranny and engine. It had a dust cover oner it with 3 bolts . please see attached photo.

Changed sensor. Didnt solve problem. Started looking around and pulled the variable valve timing sensor. Bingo. It was stuck closed. Installed new sponsor. Car runs excellent now.
