I replaced the fuel pump thinking that was the cause of the problem, but after replacing it and attaching everything back the way it's supposed to be it's still doing the same thing with the cranking and not starting. prior to this happening I ran out of gas put gas in it and it started doing the cranking, but no start and it has done this to me one other time before but after cleaning out the fuel pump the first time and putting it back in it ran fine and started right up but this time it hasn't.

Hi,

Often times a crank no start condition is caused by a fuel-related issue. It can also be related to the ignition system.

Do me a favor. See if the engine starts if you use starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know it is fuel related. If there is no change, I need you to check for spark at the plugs.

Here is a link that explains how that is done:

Do this and let me know what you find. Also, let me know if you hear the new fuel pump turn on for a second or two when you first turn on the key.

Take care,

Joe

Yes, there is spark and the fuel pump does come on. But it doesn't start with the starting fluid.

Hi,

If you have an ignition spark and starting fluid does nothing, either the timing is off or there is low engine compression. When you checked for spark, did you get a hot blue snapping spark?

Let me know.

A mechanic checked for spark and hooked it up to obd. No codes and had spark.

Hi,

Is it possible for you to record it cranking and upload it for me to hear? I ask because if you have spark and fuel, it should run unless we have a timing issue or low compression.

Let me know.
