There are 2 filters inside the air cleaner assembly on this car.The first one is the air filter and the other is the foam crankcase filter behind it.It is getting dirty and needs to be replaced. What does it do?The Auto parts store does not carry it and can it be cleaned.

You have the answer to what it does in your question. It is part of the PCV system. Namely it is the filter for the air that goes into the crankcase to pick up the fumes and vapor in the engine and allow it to be run through the PCV valve and then into the intake system to be burned. It looks to be an optional part and they don't show a part number. I would suspect it could be cleaned like you would clean a small engine filter. Basically use clean gas and wash it out like a sponge. Or visit a dealer and see if they show it as an available part.
