1990 acura integra gs b18a1 motor, stuck on the crank shaft pulley bolt, been told to feed a cotton string down one of the piston holes to get the motor to i guess seize so i can break the bolt loose from the crank shaft pulley. Book says to get a chain wrench though so thats what id like to do. Measured around crank shaft pulley getting 18 inches. Does that mean i get 18 inch chain wrench?

A chain wrench is adjustable by "hooking" the next set of pins on the next link.

So you are gonna need a wrench with "more than" 18" of chain, maybe 24"? Or what ever is available.

Think a strap wrench would work?

How 'bout what i try when doing a similar task?

I wrap the original belt (or a sacrificial one) around the pulley, all of the way around the the pulley. I double it back on itself and shove a piece wood/ file/ flat metal/ etc into the "double back fold" (this would be the handle). Depending on the force needed, i might even "vise grip" my improvised handle to the belt fold to prevent slipping.

Basically, it's a homemade strap wrench.

Google "strap wrench" and click on "images" to see what you are sorta duplicating!

Return with a grin!
