Crank postion sensor

I'm getting two 5 volt references of it no 12 12 volt. I replaced because it started running really bad. parked in drive way then wouldn't start back up so did bunch of on line investigation and com to cps sensor but i replaced both the CPS and the cam position sensor just to make sure put back together. still same thing. so i took it back apart and checked the volts to it it only has 5 volts either side of the ground key on or key in crank position.

This is actually correct. Your crank sensor runs off of what is called reference voltage. This means the PCM puts 5 volts to the sensor on the reference wire and then has what is called Low Reference. This is basically the ground that the PCM controls as well. Then the third wire is called the signal wire. Depending on this voltage the PCM knows the engine position.

Based on the info you provide, there is nothing wrong with the voltage to the crank sensor.

If you have a current issue, let's get a post started with the detail about what the vehicle is currently doing.

We need to keep each post to one issue so this post needs to remain about the crank sensor and its voltage. If you have a no start issue then let's get a post started with that so that if other have these questions they can find the answers.

Take a look at these wiring diagrams and you will what I am saying when it comes to the labels of the wires on the PCM. Let me know if you have questions about this. Thanks

Thank you for your help it was vary helpful. i finally figured out what is wrong with the car the after replacing gas pedal and throttle body come to find out the timing chain went out in it.
