The van basically starts when it wants to. but when it doesn't it either backfires badly or turns to no spark. the crankshaft sensor was replaced, good coils good ignition fail sensor, timing is good, no fault codes map sensor is good, good computer is good as far as i know, doesn't seem to be bad anyway. i am at a loss here all fuses are good and as a precaution to that they were all replaced. also the fuel regulator was replaced.

It sounds like the PCM is bad. can I ask when it starts does it run okay? Here is the PCM location so you can swap it out with a used or rebuilt unit. Remove the connectors to check for corrosion/water damage as well. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find.

PCM is good, somehow the angle sensor blade got bent and screwed the sensor cause it is now bringing the p0338 crankshaft sensor code. i am going Saturday to find a new sensor and maybe a new crankshaft gear, even though i replaced it not even two months ago. :( darn Kia's!

I got the parts put on and it started right away. but then it shut off like it usually does. turns out I forgot to hook the one of the coil packs up. then tried again and it started, still would not idle but sounded better than it used to. but now it will crank and fire but will not start.

I will upload the video later as I now am re-timing it. the car was about five teeth off. my guess is that it slipped, but i am am lucky as these are interference motors (which is the reason I have done everything I have to it.

Will it run on starting fluid? also lets do a compression test to make sure the timing is correct. Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can see what's going on, that would be great. You can upload it here with your response.
