Crank no start, code p0340

This code is for a cam sensor circuit performance Bank 1. That is unlikely to cause a no start if the check engine light is no actively on.

However, it could go stored once you cycle the key so we need to run through the testing to find out what is causing the code and then see if the no start is cured as well.

Why does my car start and run normal in afternoon, but cranks and won't start in the morning?

If the sensor is failed it may just be sensitive to temperature but there is no definitive reason for this. Clearly the environmental differences have an effect on the vehicle to cause this. However, most of the time it is not the temperature between the morning and afternoon, it is just a coincidence, which is why we need to run through the testing to confirm it is a sensor issue.

My car cranks but won't start in the morning. I checked for spark and no spark. I checked for ground and e everything tested good. Retested for spark in the afternoon and I have spark and car runs like normal. Next morning same thing crank no spark and car runs in afternoon.

How did you make out with the camshaft code diagnosis? Do you still have the P0340 code? If so, we need to chase that down. I attached a spark test for your review and as you will see it is having you test the cam sensor for on open or resistance. So the fact that you have a cam code, is most likely the issue.

Found the problem finally; had time to investigate crankshaft position sensor and I have a power steering leak and has been accumulating on the senor pigtail. I disconnected the pigtail and oil was dripping out of the port on the sensor, removed the sensor tested it after cleaning the oil out of port, it is read the correct ohms. finished cleaning and drying out connector and success engine fired up. Now I have to tackle the leaking power steering pump.
