P0440 generic . Camshaft position sensor A circuit bank 1 or single sensor.

I would start by replacing the Camshaft Position Sensor[CMP] first. If the problem still exists then I would inspect the CMP electrical connector and associated wiring for loose connection or an open in the wire. Regardless, I have included the diagnostic troubleshooting guide for your vehicle for DTC P0340. You will need to use a Digital Multi-meter[DMM] for these tests, so here is a link below explaining how to use one, if needed:

Where is the location of the cam shaft position sensor?

Here are all the sensors that I have locations on for your vehicle with the reference material available to me. I have included them in the diagrams down below. The camshaft position sensor will be in the cylinder head at the end of one or both of the camshafts. I hope this helps.

Would a bad connection in the alturnator connector be a possible reason the camshaft sensor is throwing a code ?

No, the alternator's job is to charge the battery and the camshaft position sensor[CMP] is to do just what it is called, measure the camshaft's position in the 4 stroke engine cycle and feed that information to the Powertrain Control Module[PCM], or "computer" so it can make the proper adjustments. One has nothing to do with the other.

can any of my mechanic friends help me? I'm having trouble with a 2003 Chrysler Sebring 2.7 v6 it will start but will not stay running as shown in the video. we just replaced the fuel pump and rechecked the spark plugs for gap and checked spark. it will run on starter fluid but it idles rough. also replaced the throttle position crankshaft sensor, new battery and alternator. any help would be appreciated.

This could be a problem with your Idle Air Control Motor[IAC]. In the diagrams down below I have included the location, testing and adjustment instructions for your vehicle's IAC. The testing calls for the use of an oscilloscope,so I'm not sure how helpful it will be to you, but I sent it anyway. Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you are able to find out. We can go from there if necessary.
