The car shut off going down and now won't start. new battery, has spark. I am thinking maybe crank sensor or fuel pump. When trying to start it I can hear clicking in rear under trunk.

The fact that it has spark says the crankshaft sensor is okay, I would turn the key on without cranking the engine over to see if you can hear the fuel pump work in the tank for about 5 seconds. Also, you can use starting fluid to narrow down the problem that the problem is indeed the fuel system. The clicking under the trunk is strange because the only thing that can click is the EVAP solenoid system but this can be a clue that the voltage is low when the engine is cranking over, so when you say it won't start do you mean the engine won't crank over or the engine cranks (starter working) but the engine does not run? Can you please upload a short video of the problem that would help a lot. In the meantime, here is a guide you can go over to get us closer to fixing the problem:

Please go over this guide and report back.

The car turns over but doesn't start. It seems to be dragging a little as it turns over but has a brand new battery.

I already tried starting fluid and it didn't change anything.

It sounds like the timing belt let go but to be sure please upload s short video of the engine cranking over so I can tell for sure. Here is what the timing belt looks like.
