Crank no spark

Hi,

If there is no spark, chances are the crankshaft position sensor has failed. This sensor is located at the front of the engine near the crankshaft pulley. See pic 1.

What I suggest is to get your hands on a live data scanner and simply check for an RPM signal on the scanner as the engine is being cranked. If there is no signal, replace the sensor.

If you do plan to replace it, this vehicle is a bit more difficult that the standard type. The timing belt needs removed and then will need reinstalled. I noted that you indicated "little knowledge" above. This is a somewhat difficult job. However, I can supply directions if you feel confident. I just don't want to overwhelm you at this point.
