Could the door handle lock on the passenger side be taken out and placed into the door handle on the drivers side?

I have the car listed above LHS. The door on the drivers side was replaced and and whoever replaced it did not replace the key lock with the original. Now the only way to get into the car with a key is the passenger side. When go into the car with a key through the passenger side, the alarm goes off. I usually get into the car with the keyless entry remote fob but the battery began to die on the remote fob recently and I was made aware of this problem.

The door handle on the passenger side is kind of broken so I went to the salvage yard and got another one. I observed that the keylock can be removed if I remove a pin on the handle.

My question is, can the keylock be removed from the passenger side door handle and put into the driver side door handle? I want this done so, if my keyless entry remote battery drains out, I can enter the car without the alarm sounding. It is more convenient.
