Could changing the serpentine belt cause a front seal leak

I purchased a car and the thing showed no sign of leakage But they needed to replace the serpentine belt. when I got the car from them I took it on a trip and I had the oil changed just before I left well it used four quarts of oil In 200 miles so I filled it again and coming back used for more courts there was oil on the side of the engine that there wasn't before. I mean when I got to the place in the first one and there was oil again still when I came back. So I was wondering if they could have damaged the seal when they replaced the serpentine belt? Because there was no oil along that side of the engine when I bought it. Thank you for your help.
