Something leaked from under the car, when I checked coolant there was very little in overflow so I added more. Could not get the cap off of the radiator to check level in there. Level in overflow had not gone down, but the cap on radiator is cool right after driving. Could this be that the water pump is not circulating? Haven't seen any more leaks. Not overheated yet, but I have the heater on. When I turn the heater off the heat gauge does go up. Haven't let it get past the halfway mark before turning heater back on.

Keep checking the coolant tank to see if it's low again, then have the system pressure checked. It may be a head gasket or a bad freeze plug.

Would it continue to leak if it's the gaskets or a freeze plug?

You betcha, slower with a head gasket. If it were a bad freeze plug it would leak much faster.

It hasn't leaked since that one time and radiator is still cool after driving a fair distance

then watch the coolant level and if it goes down have it pressure checked for leaks.
