cooling fan speeds up very high when I lightly accelerate

Hi,

The fan speed is controlled by the powertrain control module via a fan speed sensor. Based on engine coolant temperature, transmission temp, and if the A/C is being used, the PCM opens a valve in the fan clutch causing the fan to speed up or slow down.

I have to be honest. If you are hearing a loud roaring, jet-like sound and the temp is high, it could be normal. If you are hearing that type of noise when the engine and outside temps are cool, the clutch likely needs replaced.

Note: There are special tools required to perform the procedure. However, most parts stores will lend them to you.
