the coolant temperature it reaches in the 237 degrees?

Replaced the engine after it locked up, the old engine had 194,000 the use one i put in has 70,000. Started and it's all good but monitoring the coolant temperature it reaches in the 237 max, no dash lights or any codes, fan kicks on as it should. I only put water instead of antifreeze for now. And bled it per the videos online. Radiator hoses have normal pressure. Trying to find if this is normal, or antifreeze and more bleeding could cause it to go lower, all while car is parked.

Hi,

In a perfect world, the temperature would stay between 195F and 220F. However, that can change based on conditions. If you told me you lived in Antarctica, I would be shocked. However, if you live in the desert, it wouldn't be that surprising. It is a little warmer than I would expect, but it may not be too far out of the ordinary because of where you live.

When you replaced the engine, did you use the sensors on the new engine? Where on the temperature gauge does the needle indicate? Is it above halfway?

The vehicle does not have gauges. I used my scanner. I bled the coolant again and it's better, these are difficult to bleed. I used original sensors from the used motor except a couple. Now it stays around 199 and fan locks on at 203.

Those temperatures are perfect. You must have had an air pocket slowing the flow of coolant through the engine.
