Hello, I'm Danny.

The coolant temperature sensor is located underneath the intake manifold in the lifter valley area. You will have to remove all the upper engine accessories and the intake manifold to gain access to the sensor. Being that your truck is a 2019 does the factory Ford warranty still apply? I would have them cover it first due to the fact that if you have to do this repair yourself out of pocket it will cost thousands of dollars. We can provide you with the repair guides if you choose to do this however I would check your warranty information first being this is a relatively new truck. I've attached a picture below of the coolant temperature sensor location. Let us know how you are going to proceed and we'll go from there. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes

Hello again.

Here is the information you requested. We have had a bunch of people request wiring diagrams here due to rats chewing up the wiring so you are not the first. That is a bummer especially being a new truck. Here is a tutorial showing how to test electrical wiring:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

I've attached the wiring diagrams below for the cooling system including the coolant temperature sensor. I've cut the diagrams into 3 pieces so you can view larger. I've circled the sensor in red. Let us know if you have any further questions on this issue or need any further diagrams-help. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

Hello,

The Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) sensor is located a left center of the rear of the engine. I have included a set of engine sensors in the diagrams down below for you vehicle. If you have any other vehicle related questions, please, feel free to ask. It's what we do and why we are here.

Thanks,
Alex

Do the clips in the first diagram unscrew or do they pop out? Also are they reusable or do I need replacements?

Problem solved. The part was easy to swap out. Took about 30 minutes from start to finish. I think I wasted more time looking for my ratchet. Thanks for the help.

A rodent got into my engine bay and ate some of my insulation but also appears to have eaten through the wiring to the engine temperature sensor. I cannot find where it is located on my engine to check the wiring.

The sensor is back at the engine/bell housing split. Mounted to the passenger side cylinder head on the inner rear of the head. Item C107 in the picture.

I would check every wire on there. Those little Ba$%#@@$% love to chew.
Of course the automakers do not help when they use bio-plastic wire insulation. Nothing like coating the wiring with animal feed.

Ford doesn't use a conventional style coolant temperature sensor, they use a cylinder head temperature sender. It is on the rear of the engine on the right side above the bell-housing flange on the 5.0 engine. What is the issue you are having?

This is a pretty common question for these engines. You have what is called a cylinder head temperature sensor. Exact same thing as an engine coolant temperature sensor, it is just in the cylinder head. Now the unfortunate part, it is under the intake manifold. If you take a look at the picture you will see the intake ports are exposed in order to access it.

Let me know if you need more info. Thanks

Very much appreciated. Unfortunately, this takes it right out of my comfort zone for executing at home. At least I have a general grasp of the labor involved, which helps when communicating with mechanics. Thanks again.

Haha. I totally understand. I do a lot of my own stuff as well and I think my best ability is to know when not to do something and that is normally pluming. I am scared of floods behind my walls and not knowing it until it is too late.

Let us know if you need more info or what it turns out to be. Thanks

Your engine doesnt have a traditional ECT(engine coolant temperature) sensor, instead it employs a cylinder head temperature(CHT) sensor.
