Coolant leak between transmission and engine?

There are not any expansion plugs between the engine and transmission so it is unlikely not the issue.

Here are some guides that will help with locating what is leaking. We need to pressurize the system and find out where we are loosing the coolant.

Can you get a couple pictures or a video of where this is leaking and hitting the ground then we can get a better idea what is may be.

I was told there's a freeze plug on side where the transmission is bolted. Behind the flywheel.

That does help. However, I must have glanced right over the fact that this was an OHV engine. You do have freeze plugs in the block and cylinder heads so I would start with trying to access the side of the head to see if it is coming from there. If not the transmission needs to come out in order to find it repair it.

However, with that amount of water that is more then likely a freeze plug. Were you running just water in the engine over the winter? Antifreeze would have prevented this unless you are in the arctic so if you have coolant in the engine then I would think the mixture is off for it to freeze and push this plug out.

There is a rare occurrence when the block corrodes and they start to leak which is clearly a much more serious issue.

I have another question, lol.

I'm trying to separate the transmission from the motor. I got the nuts off from the flywheel to torque converter. I can't get the transmission to separate as I'm pulling the motor. Any suggestions?

No problem. However, we need to get a new post started for new issues.

So what I would do is you use a pry bar to pry the torque converter off the flywheel. More than likely the studs of the torque converter are hung up on the flywheel. So you need to push the converter back off the flywheel before you can remove it.

If this doesn't work then we need to get a new post started and we can figure something else out. Thanks

I’m having a similar problem with a coolant leak. I have a 98 Chevy k1500 4x4 and I filled it up with water yesterday and today I noticed a leak where my transmission and engine mount together. I’ve looked all above there and under the hood and don’t see where it could be leaking to run down to that area. Not sure if you can tell with this picture but I’ll add it just in case
