Good morning,

Can you attach a picture of the connector you referred to in the post?

That is an elbow for the heater hose off the intake. Is that correct? It looks like it presses into the manifold and has a hose on the other side.

Hard to see from a distance with the picture.

You are correct it is an elbow, but it is the return/overflow line from the coolant reservoir.

Okay, what is the issue with the elbow? Is it leaking? Broken? That is a rare part to fail unless there is severe corrosion in the cooling system.

It is corroded with pin holes leaking coolant, I have remove the old part which was actually loose from the corrosion. New part has been ordered, I just want to make sure I install it properly.

Okay, did you get all of it out of the manifold?

Like I said before, it presses into the intake manifold. When you get the new part, you will need to tap it into the manifold until it bottoms out.

I would also have the cooling system acid flushed to get rid of all the corrosion. Water pump impeller issues are common for systems with this corrosion.

Greatly appreciate your time and attention in responding. If I may ask one more question. Should any sealant or lubricant be applied before tapping the part in?

No, that will make it difficult for installation and you may damage the connector. The most I would use is a little vaseline.

You are welcome.

Always glad to help.
