Bought it as is, does not work. Checked the switch and it is loose so i ordered another one but there are two codes for relays. I want to check and see if they are okay. Where are they located?

Hi,

The relays are located next to the top hydraulic unit. If you look at pic 1 below, I highlighted them. Note, you have to remove the cover to access them.

In addition, I included the wiring schematic for the top. The schematic was two pages long and I had to cut each page in half to make it readable for you. I did overlap them so you can follow from one to the next.

Here is a link you may find helpful when testing the relays:

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

I don't see any relays on the left side. Right side is just the battery.

I found then under the black cover. Both relays corroded from water, two large wires corroded and gotten lose from the relay connector. I want to buy the piece that the relay connects it sits in, what is it called? If i can't find it i will have to find some spray that will release all this corrosion and the reconnect the two wires.

Hi,

Can you send me a couple of pics, so I know what you want to replace? I believe the relays are in the hydraulic compartment and have connectors to them. Is that correct?

Let me know.

Attached. One of the problems is that i don't know where these 2 wires will attach in the relay socket.

Hi,

Are both wires solid red in color? If they are, they are the power supply. See pic 1 below. They receive power from fuse 106 (50amp) in the under-hood fuse box.

These two wires are will actually provide power to the unit when the relays are actuated.

If you look at the schematic below, you need to pair them with the black wire and the black wire with a red tracer out in the connector. On the relay, there should be a small, embossed pic showing which pin is required. Since both are red, one will go to each connector. The others are still connected, so chances are you should be able to tell where they came from.

Check to see if one of the two wires has voltage or if both do.

Let me know.

The socket is so corroded and other wires are missing. I just ordered this short harness along with two new relays. I will let you know how it goes.

Can you get me the part numbers for the 2 relays on this hydraulic pump? I ordered 2 but they have 5 prongs not 4. I don't understand how all those being sold are 5.

Still no luck, all 5 prongs, even though they look the same, and all BMW owners reported replacing them with this part number 12631742690.

Is there any information on the old relay? My manual isn't providing the part number.

Let me know.

Does the 5th pin looks like it's broken? Maybe it's broken in the socket that's why it won't fit.

Hi,

I attached your pic below and circled where it looks like rusted metal. Is that spot metal? If so, then it does appear to be a broken pin. I looked at the pics you have above and that is right where pin "5" would be located.

If you look at the inside of the original connector, is the pin in there?

Hi,

Looking at the last pic, it appears there are two places that could have a broken pin stuck in them. See pic below. Keep in mind, it's a little more difficult looking at a picture, but I believe that is what I'm seeing.

See pic below and let me know if that is what you are questioning.

Take care,

Joe

Yes, that is what i think. Water or moisture has gotten in and caused corrosion on the wires as well as the pump. I ordered a harness, these relays and a pump. Thanks for your help.

Once i replace it all, are these fuses to the top? Some may have failed due to the shorts or water, if you can let me know.

Hi,

Looking at the wiring schematic, I see two fuses. One is under the right side of the dash and the other is in the right-side rear of the vehicle. I attached a portion of the wiring schematic identifying fuse number. The entire schematic is listed above.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.
