Coolant reservoir connector broke

Can you upload a picture of the broken part?

Is it one of the connectors on the reservoir that broke?

Generally speaking, those connectors that are on the coolant reservoir are not available to purchase separately and come with the reservoir.

That quick connector is not available just by itself. It will require purchasing the hose. One thing you can try (unless you already have) is to call your local Ford dealer and see if they are able to just get the quick connector for that hose. Sometimes the dealers will have access to those smaller pieces.

So, i have to spend $50 for a 25-cent part? talk about greed.

Unfortunately, on many occasions, the small item that is broken/bad is not available to purchase separately, rather have to get the larger piece just to have what you need.

got the hose this morning, put it on (easy). now it's looks like the reservoir is leaking, might be my fault though, i'll replace it and see.

looks like there is still a leak from around the fitting, should i try gasket sealer?

i opted to not put gasket sealer on it, but it's not sealed and is still leaking. I thought that the connection was supposed to be self sealing but I guess it's not. what do I do?

Is there any deformity on the nipple on the coolant reservoir? The new hose/connector should seal against the reservoir without any leakage.

If the part of the reservoir has any damage or dent it can leak.

How bad is the leak? Is it slowly coming out or more of a squirt?

You can also remove the hose and make sure the mounting surface is clean and reattach it.

it's like a bubble drip, if i move the hose, i can stop it, but it's almost like it's the wrong size or something, even though it's the right part.

i know that the hose and connector shouldn't wiggle or move in any direction but in and out. and this is loose.

i replaced the reservoir too, so it had all new surfaces. just need to fix it so i can drive it safely.

That is strange that you have the leak after all new components. It is possible that the new part is defective. It could have incorrect dimension/specification due to manufacturer/machining error. You should be able to get a replacement part when they are defective. As you have replaced both the hose and the reservoir there does not seem to be any other explanation.

found a solution, it's more or less a bush fix, but marine grade Loctite. The connection is firm, and i know from past experience with it on a pool, it's removable with some effort.
it's just weird that this would happen with a genuine ford part from the dealership. However, it's been about 6 hours and i've driven the car a couple of times already and the area has stayed dry.

It certainly is puzzling why the new OEM components will leak. One thing to keep in mind for that Loctite is the operating temperature range. As long it can withstand the temperature under the hood it should work.

so far so good, the connection is good. but for some reason the coolant tank was empty this afternoon, guess i didn't fill the system up completely, time will tell at this point. no visible leaks though.

It could be possible to have air in the system. Just fill it up and let it run for a bit and see if it goes down. Sometimes it helps to squeeze the radiator hose to purge any air (when the engine is running and cool enough to touch the hose).
