I'm in the process of assembling a Td27 engine and during the disassembled process I notice on the con rod cap there is an arrow, thing is the arrow for # 1, 2, and 4 is facing the rear of the engine and only #3 piston rod is facing forward. From my experience usually the arrows should be facing forward. Is it normal?or should a turn the con rod so that the arrow is facing forward?

Good afternoon,

Did you replace the pistons?

Are the notches pointing forward to the front? The pistons may be on wrong.

I didn't replace the pistons. it's a longitudinal engine, the pistons combustion chamber is facing the injector side which should be the case.my guess is the connecting rod was wrongly put with the piston.Basically I tear down the engine to replace the big end bearing there was a knock, bearing was worn out.

Sorry I don't have any pictures. I turn the connecting rod on the pistons so when I installed the con rod cap the arrow is facing forward to the timing gears. I could feel a difference in the engine when I started it after. from experience that I have for sure the pistons and connecting rod was installed incorrectly.
