The fan will stop spinning, then the A/C will get hot inside the car, but if I spin the fan it will start working properly. Any advice?

Yes it sounds like the fan motor is out and needs replacement or the relay is bad. Here are some guides that will show you what you are in for with some diagrams (below) of what it will take on your car:
