I changed the ignition because the key would just turn with out turning the car on. after i did i found out it was not the ignition it was the ignition pin. so i put the old ignition back in and i changed the ignition pin. When i started it and started and ran fine for three seconds and the shut off. It did that three times and then would not do nothing. it locked the starter out for the anti theft system. I think it was because i had put the new ignition in and it did not recognize the key and when i put the old one in it tripped the security code. I towed it to two different garages to have the code cleared because that is what everyone on Google said it was. Both garage said it was the sender or the receiver of the security unit and they could not guarantee me which one it was for sure. One cost $1,300.00 and the other $1,100.00 to do. it would be a gamble to do just cross my fingers and hope we picked the right one first or we would have to do both basically it would cost me $2,500.00 to fix. I said no and brought it back home. My buddy told me if i could find one being parted out with the matching computer that i could change that and the security units and the key and put in mine and it would start up. Would that work? does anyone have any solutions i should try? i found a 2005 would that work in my 2006 or does it have to be the same exact year? Thanks for your time.

Hello,

The ignition key must be programmed to the security system has nothing to do with a codes being cleared. Can I ask if these garages where a Chrysler garage? The lest time I have a key codes for the car it run 130.00 at the dealer.

Have you called the dealer and told them your story see what they say?

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

Yes, it was a dealership both of them was. One was Dave Dennis Chrysler and the other was Performance Chrysler. They programmed a key and it did nothing. When hooked to the computer it tell you the security code has came on but it will not let you clear it. So that is why they said it was the PCM power-train control module which is the one that sends the signal and tell the computer the key is correct and to start or it is the one that receives the signal and tells the computer it is okay to start? I just do not see how and why it would start three times for three seconds each time then the security light comes on and now nothing. How does that part just go bad like that? And why can they not pin point which one? It does not make any since.

The systems talk to one another so separating to see which one can be difficult. So can you tell me what was broken that you fixed? Do you have a picture?

It seems the trouble started when you changed the key pin? Here are the security system wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works.

Please check fuse #17, 29 and 14.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.
