completely locked up

I think some security feature caused my Volvo to just shut down completely. I was trying to back out of a parking space and it stopped working entirely...no turnover, can't even put it in neutral. What do I do?

Well, I finally got it into neutral...turn the key to the II mark, push shift lock override down and put gear to neutral. It still won't start though : (

check fuel pressure, compression and spark and see what is missing
