Cold start it runs perfectly after it warms up to normal operating temperature it shuts off?

Hi,

I believe the crankshaft position sensor is bad. When they begin to fail, they get adversely affected by heat which shuts spark off to the plugs (starting fluid didn't work).

Hey Joe. I really appreciate the quick response and your knowledge. I was leaning more towards the sensor more so than the Ignition Control Module. Only thing that is making me sort of second guess myself is that I checked for spark out of the plug wires and as the motor was turning over, I could see spark, but it did look like a fairly weak spark as opposed to the spark I get when the car is Running. Double check for spark. If it is present, it should be a blue snapping spark. If it appears white or orange, that would indicate it is weak.

On the other hand, even a weak spark should have done something when using starting fluid. My gut feeling is the crankshaft position sensor is the issue, but I have been wrong before. LOL

Here is something we can do. If the vehicle has a tachometer, see if it moves a bit when cranking the engine in a no start condition. If there is no movement, the sensor is the likely issue. Also, if you have a live data scan tool, check for an RPM signal when it won't start. If there isn't one, replace the sensor.
