No power to the Coil packs?

Hi,

If you are not getting power to the coils unless it is jump-started, then either the battery in the vehicle is very weak or there is a poor connection at some point.

When you use jumper cables, where do you place the ground jumper cable on your vehicle? Is it on the battery or in a different location?

Are the battery terminals both clean and tight, free of corrosion?

I jump it directly to the battery terminals the terminals are clean battery was tested and read 12.94 volts.

Okay, if the battery is good but the coils only get power when it is being jump started, something is causing a connection issue that is resolved by the jumper cables.

Check to make sure the ground between the battery engine and body is clean and tight. Also, the power to the ignition coils comes from the injector 2 fuse in the under-hood fuse box. There is a splice on the supply right at the fuse, but that still doesn't explain it having power only when being jump-started.

Do me a favor. First, I need confirmation of the engine size. This came with a 2.7L 4-cylinder and a 3.5 V6. Which one do you have? I attached a schematic showing the power supply to the coils. Have you checked for power when not being jump-started and then again when you have the jumpers connected? I ask because I don't see how connecting jumpers would suddenly cause that fuse to become powered. Does that make sense?

Check the fuse as well. It will only have power when the key is in the run position or start position. Make sure power is present. If it is, check power at the coils. See schematic below.
