Hello, I'm Danny.

That code is related to the ECM - engine control module in your truck.The ECM is your trucks main computer-or main brain- and it has an internal fault. That code or fault is for the soak timer which controls parameters for the evaporative system.The evaporative system is what monitors the emissions system.Basically, This means the ECM needs to be replaced.The cost of an ECM from the Toyota dealer is $1,010.00 for the part not including installation or programming.You can find them through online companies for hundreds of dollars less. Thank you Danny! Is it possible to order one online and give them the VIN number and then just swap it out? I have read conflicting things online. Some say you can, others say you still need to get it programmed. And how can I tell if it's the computer itself or just a short somewhere?

Yes, you are correct.They are available online for way less than a dealership.That's what the programming is- You give them your VIN number to make it work on your particular truck.After that it is just plug and play. I'm sure it's going to be roughly $250-$400 but way less than Toyota. Last time I had it done for a neighbor there was a company in Florida that did it for $250.00. I wish I could give you a referral but there's a lot more available online now days.Be careful if you get something used from eBay or Amazon because you might just get a defective unit and you still have to get it programmed.To answer your question; No, if it was just an electrical problem or short it would be an entirely different code.Should be worth thinking about fixing because 140,000 miles isn't that much.Sure beats a new car payment.Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

Awesome thank you, you have been so helpful. I know you said you couldn't remember the company you used before but I could really use a recommendation. I can only find a couple companies and then I get worried about the warranties. Then one company told me one part and then searching online I says another, and I am searching by VIN number. Some give a lifetime warranty others one year. I am willing to pay what is fair, I just want to know I am dealing with an honest, reputable company. I live in Hawaii so I don't really have a lot of local options.
