I keep getting this code 89.
My car is the LS model.
Sometimes it comes when I start the engine and sometimes it just comes anytime while driving.
It's never constant . It just comes with beep sound and goes away in few seconds.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

The code you mentioned is commonly related to an issue with the cooling system thermostat. What I need you to do is pay attention to the engine temperature when this comes on and then again when it goes off.

If the engine isn't warming up fast enough (stuck open thermostat), it's telling you the output emissions are compromised. If it is going off, it is reaching temp. This could simply be the result of a thermostat that is partially stuck open and causing the engine warm up to take a bit longer than the computer seems necessary.

Let me know what you find.

Hi Joe

The engine temperature seems to be fine while I get this code 89.
There is no heating warning light at any time . So engine is not getting heated.
Please advice what to do next.

Welcome back:

What I was thinking was the opposite of getting too hot, but rather not warming up fast enough.

I can't be sure. However, that is my first suspect. If the engine doesn't warm up fast enough, it will set a code.

Please understand, I can't guarantee that is the problem. But I do feel it is a good place to start. I worked on a vehicle about a month ago that had similar issues. What I found on that vehicle was it was taking too long for the engine to properly warm up. It did warm up, it just took too long.
