I have the truck listed above that had a motor swap a couple years ago. haven’t had the truck on the road for a while but the swap was from a 1992 Buick road master. I do not have a ESC module, but I replaced the knock sensor and distributor from reading other post that you have comments on. I can’t figure out where to go next, is there a way to tell me if that truck should have the ESC module and maybe it was never put in but I don’t see any plugs in the harness that could say that something is missing? I’m pretty lost on what to do to get rid of this light and If is causing an issue to the vehicle. can you please give me some guidance? Thanks

Good afternoon,

Yes, the 1994 had an ESC module by the distributor.

If you do not have one on the 1992 engine then you need to swap the distributor and module from your old engine to the replacement engine and hook up the module.

Can you show me a picture of what the module looks like? Or are you talking about the ignition module that is built into the distributor?

The module is mounted at the coil. They are in the same bracket.

The ignition module is in the distributor itself.

So if I follow the plug I should be able to find the ESC or it is attached to the coil?

See my motor doesn’t have that module in that location and my harness has no wire in that area for the ESC. that was the first area I check is there any other way it would be throwing that code?

The 43 is for the ESC module or knock sensor module. If it is not there, then it will code.

You could swap engine harness from the other truck and that will eliminate it. Use the ECM from it as well.

Okay, I will try to trace the complete harness on in the engine bay again, because it is the stock harness from the truck so there has to be something missing somewhere. thank you for the help I will get back to you with a status. thanks for all the tips greatly appreciated.
