Code 43

Hi,

As far as the code is concerned, yes it deals with the knock sensor. I started looking up diagnostics for you but was stopped. I need to know the transmission model in the truck. One is an electric shift 4L60E and the other isn't electric. They point me in different directions.

Also, let me know if you are experiencing any drivability issues. Do you ever notice ticking or valve ping? Is there a loss of power?

If you aren't sure about the transmission, see pic 1 below and let me know what you find.

I believe it is the 4L60E transmission. I crawled under it the connector was disconnected from knock sensor. I reattached it yesterday and the code went away, and the knock sound went away. I hit a bump today and the light came back on. I guess the question now is should I replace the connector or the knock sensor. Thanks.

Hi,

There should be clips that hold the connector on to the sensor. Are you able to see if they are broken or damaged?

It didn’t look damaged or broken. But the pin inside the connector looked bent. Got a feeling when my mechanic replaced the starter, they either didn’t connect it right or had pulled it off and didn’t I clip it. The tab on the connector was still closed when I found it not hooked up. I got the code a few days after the starter was replaced. I didn’t have time to look at it and thought the sensor went bad.

If the pin is bent in the connector, that is a problem. Are you able to straighten it at least for testing?
