How to replace the clutch master cylinder?

Good morning,

The hardest part of this job is to release the rod from the clutch pedal. Once that is done, you need to use a spacer to keep the pedal from reconnecting with the rod during the removal.

Now I wish it was just the clutch master. My friend whose car it is just sent me a picture of power steering/hydraulic fluid.. needless to say it takes Dot 4 the clutch master is fed via the brake master reservoir. No one has pump the pedal yet. Crossing my fingers on separating the reservoir and master. Draining it bleeding it and hoping for the best. Have a great day! Thanks for the help.

As far as the brake fluid, you should be fine. The difference is the DOT 4 has a higher boiling point. Thus, it is safer for higher temps.

Hi. yes, i was able to take the brake reservoir off and drain it filled it with the Dot 4 fluid and bleed the clutch. Very poor set up the fill for the clutch master is on the very top of the reservoir if fluid is allowed to drop to low you get air. So keep it full while bleeding it. For anyone reading this... nothing replaces brake fluid nor can it be mixed with other types of fluids; power steering, transmission etc... Rubber seals will swell and distort if mixed.

That is correct. That is a common mistake and that requires replacing both the slave and the master cylinder.
