clunk at the end of shifting

which is more common a transmission mount, rear end or a driveshaft failure that can cause a clunk by the end of the shifting, going for example first to second by the time she shifts it clunks. I know it's a mount or a joint issue and not a transmission issue, had my shares, but on this dodge it does it randomly, shifting is smooth.

Have you checked universal joints? Also, have you checked to see if there is excessive play in the pinion shaft? As far as a mount, I would think you would hear it when you shift between reverse and drive. Is it only when it shifts?

Also, check to make sure the differential fluid is full and there is no evidence of shavings in the fluid.

One last thought. Open the hood and watch the engine as you shift between drive and reverse to make sure nothing is broken as far as a motor mount.
