Clock spring problem

Hi, I have a few symptoms on the steering wheel: the buttons for the cruise control, the button that switches the display from trip A, B, range, and mpg, the button I could use to answer a call and end a call are also not working. The horn works, however the airbag light is on. The lights that illuminate the buttons are not working. so at night when i switch the headlights on, the steering wheel stays dark. I think that about covers it. I have been doing some reading thinking its maybe a fuse and my research is leading me to the clock spring. which looks difficult. Do this sound like the clock spring to you as well and i it is. then is replacing it something a person can manage on their own or is it a mechanic only thing?

(it doesn't matter regarding the problem however I accidentally selected 4WD in vehicle description. it's front wheel drive only)

Hi,

Yes, this makes sense that it would be a clock-spring. Just because the horn works does not mean the clock-spring is okay. Each of these items has its own winding on the clock-spring. I included the process on replacing it. It is not a simple job but is something one can do. I will leave that up to you and your comfort level.
