If the clock spring is bad would that cause the car not to accelerate?

Normally not. This is just to keep connection between the airbag, steering wheel controls, and horn to the rest of the electrical system. If you have an acceleration issue we need the detail on when this happens or if it goes away at certain speeds. Also, does it do this all the time? We need to find out if there are codes also.
