Climate Control Diagnostic Codes 10 86 00?

Hi,

By chance, is the code a B1086? What you listed isn't identified. However, from experience, I know a B1086 is related to the air distribution damper.

Before going further, try a reset. Press the climate control button, the defrost button, and the power button at the same time. Next, press the climate control button again and it should be reset.

See if that changes anything. If it doesn't, then I suggest removing the distribution damper actuator. It is also known as a mode door actuator. Once it is removed, then I would connect the electrical connector and see if it responds when you change the airflow direction.

The bad part about this is the steering column needs to be removed to access the actuator. I have no idea why things need to be designed in such a manner, but they do it.

I attached the directions below starting with the steering column removal.

Thank you JacobandNickolas, I’ll give this a try. I’m more about the code, I talked with a dealer, and they were able to ascertain which actuator.
I appreciate the pictures and instructions.

Update: I haven’t been able to locate any good videos on how to remove gauge cluster in sequence so….

in order to keep from having to remove cluster, i followed a YouTube video and bought a "motion pro 90-degree 1/4" hex driver carburetor tool with bits" in order to "Papasmurf" the screws. I'm into buying new tools, especially those i could use other times and places.

Thanks for the update. As far as the instrument cluster, I thought I included them. I'm sorry about that.

If you look below, I added the directions. Note that the directions discuss the replacement of the cluster, which you aren't doing. However, the directions are the same for the removal and replacement.

No worries, Joe, normally I either buy a manual or find a video.

It’s all the bits and pieces I need to remove that I’m missing. If I can’t get it with the tool I bought, I’ll probably buy a repair manual, since I haven’t found a video showing the cluster removal process.
