The vent direction control, and blower speed control no longer do anything. The buttons still work with the LED signals and physical defrost turning on and off. The temperature knob still seems to function. When it is set to pull air from outside, it will have very low air movement from the vents, at the set temperature.

The air distribution vend doors seem to be the issue. I can't recall on the 06 for sure, but I believe they are vacuum operated. Check to see if there are any vacuum leaks under the dash. If you're lucky, you may actually hear a hissing sound when the engine is running.

I have a type R spec V nissan air vent only blows out the defrost yhis happened just after having my cabin air filter replaced, mechanic says its a coincidence and that it is REALLY expensive to fix. It blows cold or hot just fine just only through the defrost vent

I believe the vent doors are vacuum actuated. Make sure none of the hoses were left off when the work was done.

I cannot get the windshield defroster to engage when the directional switch is changed. The other settings such as floor only, front only, floor/front are all working.

Can you tell me how to check this and how to fix it...

Also, do you have a diagram?

Check the mode door control linkage adjustment.

CONTROL LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT
Mode Door Control Linkage

• Turn mode door control knob to position.
• Set side link in DEF mode.
• Pull on outer cable in direction of arrow and then clamp it.
• After positioning mode door control cable, check that it operates properly.

Knob is stuck or it can move but the air flow is stuck on one position?

It can move but the air flow is stuck on one position.

It's blowing air out the front and I can turn the knob but it won't change which way the air is blowing. This is only really a problem when trying to defrost my windshield when it's cold outside as I've been having to drive with the windows down.

Do you mean the blower only works on high with erratic heating?

When thermostats are stuck in partially open position, the problem would occur as the engine is running cooler than specifications and coolant flow to heater core is disrupted.

Hi,I had fan switch replaced in climate control
and mechanic got the vents crossed up and
now there is no air coming from the face vents
only the defrost.I have driven the car for 2 months
like this and one day got into my car and noticed
there was water on my passenger side floor mat
and egde of carpet was sorta wet.Has my heater
core been affected from my climate control
blocked vents or is this not related? Thanks

more than likely the water is coming from your radiator you will have to replace this

That is an indication coolant is not moving through the heater core to heat up the air.

The most likely cause would be a restricted heater core. Disconnect both hose and back flush to get any restriction out of the heater core. Check hoses for clogging due to kinking etc.

That would depend on how cold the weather is. You were able to replace the thermostat and radiator which is a more time consuming job.
