When reversing there is a clicking noise coming from rear passenger side

So, On the rear passenger side of this truck when you put it in reverse and go back you can start to hear a loud clicking/tickling it is pretty constant and I believe it gets gets faster as you accelerate in reverse. If i move forward in drive nothing no sound at all.

I have taken off the tire, took off the caliper and spin the rotor around in reverse and it makes the noise as i am turning it click click and its constant. the rotor is not scraping anything it does like inside of the hub or something not sure.

Could it be the Outer CV joint? Or Wheel bearing?
If it could be that or anything else. Please let me know.

Note: I did notice a lot of rust on this vehicle bad rusty back plate I do not know if the owner bought it from a auction i am guessing it has been in the water. lol, but i could be wrong.

Let me know what you think this could be.

What you are hearing is more than likely the lovely GM parking brake assembly that is inside that rotor, and it has a twin on the other side. What has probably happened is that the backing plates have rusted and let the pins that hold the brake shoe(s) tight pull loose and now the shoe is dragging on the rust inside the drum.

The 1500 uses a single shoe while the 2500 uses two shoes. The worst item to replace on both is the backing plate. Axles or hubs need to come out/off for those. Unless you have the lighter 1500, those you can get a two piece for.

Steve, I think you are right. I got confused cause i am not a mechanic i am still in the learning process.I even thought i had a wheel hub assembly on the rear like the front ones. lol, now i know its actually a axle that connects with a rod into the differential. I just finished watching a video that also confirms what you said about the E-brake i am going to check it out in the morning cause its a other owners vehicle.

I will let you know the outcome, but i am kind of certain your right i think the horseshoe like pad came off and is probably hitting the inside of the rotor.
