On the first of January we were hit on the rear end of our vehicle. The back tire was completely bent and messed up. The insurance stated suspension need to be repaired and replaced the tire and hub cap in full. After we got our vehicle back we realized this loud clicking noise is coming from the rear of our vehicle when we pull in or park our vehicle. We also have had these rare occasions while reversing where it sounds like the rear end is grinding against something even though nothing is there.

The second mechanic to take a look at it found a bolt loose and tightened it. Still the clicking noise is there loud and clear. They have stated it is the exhaust cooking down but could not explain why we hear it when my husband just drops me off and is pulling out.

I am concern that both the insurance and second mechanic missed something. This vehicle is new and never made the noise before the accident. Please, let me know what you think.

Is the noise constant with road speed? if so, jack up the wheel that was damaged and give it a spin, let me know if you hear the noise then.
