removed cylinder head and have oil sitting on top of piston head is this normal, engine was overheating.

Hello .. thanks for the donation .. much appreciated you may have a had a bad cylinder headgasket .. this was causing the overheating and allowing oil/water into the piston chamber's .. have the head pressure tested while off the vehicle to be sure it is ok (not warped/cracked) then replace with a new gasket set !! hope this helps
