2005 Citroen C4 Head Gasket Leak

For them to keep bringing this issue up there must have been a technical service bulletin issued stating that there may be problems with the headgasket on this model ... check with citreon's head office regarding this issue .. if there was a recall issued then citreon should pay ALL of the repair cost's ... or if there have been problems on other vehicles and a TSB issued then citreon will pay for MOST of the repair cost's

Im very happy with your speedy reply. I have checked this morn with a local mechanic in a different garage and he advises that there has been several issues with citreon regarding head gaskets on C4'S, although citreon never made it public. My car was never recalled for this issue but Im just wondering where do you think I stand now with the fact that they contacted me 6 to 8 weeks after last years service with a letter stating that they have detected a gasket leak in my car, then the car was mysteriously ok and now I have a gasket leak on this service. Plus I have not had to put any oil or more water in the car then usual, and no warning lights came up on my car for oil eetc.... I hope Im clear on the above.

Firstly ...there must have been a TSB(technical service bulletin) issued regarding the headgasket issue on your vehicle model .. there is no way the service centre realised 6/8 weeks after your service last year that the headgasket was faulty .. they would have seen the bad gasket symptoms there and then and not just realised 6/8 weeks after the service ... they must have seen a TSB ..then contacted you .. for them to even say they will ask citroen for a partial payment towards the repair then and now, is definately telling me there has been reported issues and at least a TSB stateing citroen will pay partial cost's of the repair .. otherwise the service centre would not even bother contacting them and would be asking you for the money !! I cannot find any information on a TSB .. but the citreon range was not released in the USA .. I will contact a friend back in England to see if he has the info ... I'm not even sure your headgasket has a fault .. they may have seen the TSB and know it will fail in the future because of the reported problems and are trying to have the repair paid for partially by the manufacturer now, rather than you paying later !! I would try contacting citroen's head office and ask about the headgasket issue !! hope this helps..

I was onto you a few weeks ago where I had a head gasket oil leak that was detected last year and the garage never attended to it, they actually have since done the job for me, the expense covered by Citreon although my car in 2005 and out of warrenty, strange I know. Sine they done a repair job everything was going fine. Last night the engine warning light appeared and I drove it for 10 mins where I left the car in Mam to be brought to the garage today as I didnt want to risk driving it due to the head gasket issues recently. Also on the radio screen a beeping noise was heard and a written message stating depollution warning. The car was brought back to garage today and they was advised everything ok I then went to pick up the car and these warnings are still there, I left the car back this eve and the mechanic told me the person I left the message with this morn didnt advise him of the depollution message that was apearing on the screen. Im just wondering would this be caused by the head gasket issue, I have been driving with that issue for some months now before they tried to convince me that it was there then all of a sudden they were paying for it. Im due to collect the car tmw, I would liked to be armed with your knowledge on this and if you reckon Im now going to have engine problems due to the undectetion of the head gasket oil leak..... Appreciate your help.

Hello Again. Glad to hear citroen finally relented and payed for the repair ... unfortunately it is impossible to say for certain whether the gasket fault has caused any lasting damage ... I will state that if the repairs were carried out correctly and all the correct steps taken to prevent lasting damage the vehicle should be fine .. as for the antipollution warning ... there are filters to clean the cabin(inside car) air on your vehicle ... it could be this filter just needs replacing, a quick and simple repair ... again it is impossible to state whether the oil leak caused this or just general wear and tear .. hope this helps in some way !!
