Electrical problem

Hi,
I have a Citroen AX Debut year 1992, lately my electrician installed an Auto Guage temperature meter in order to monitor engine temperature. The guage lightning was connected to the lights, such that when I turn on lights the guage also lights up! my problem is that every know and then a fuse from my fuse box which is rated 5A blows letting the guage to work in a funny way! everything else such as headlamps etc works perfectly (with blown fuse). Could this problem be because of having a fuse near to the limit and the inrush current blows it?
