My wife owns a 2002 Chrysler Town & Country Limited. About a year ago we had the transmission replaced. When we got it back from the shop, it was running very rough. I took the vehicle back several times over a period of about six months and finally the auto shop fixed most of the problem. Believe or not, they had moved the engine to get the transmission out and when they put the transmission back in, they did not align the motor with the body. Caused a very bad rough idle and rough running down the highway. Anyway, we just replaced the alternator and now I have noticed a rough idle when we turn on the ac. It runs pretty smooth when the ac is off. Also, I have noticed that at 45 mph the vehicle jerks like it is slipping in and out of gear but, there is no change in the rpms. It only does the jerking at 45 mph. We need some advice. My wife wants to keep the van for a while longer. The moter is a 3.8 V-6. Thanks for your time.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Does the engine idle really low with the AC on? Also, has the check engine light come on?

Let me know.
