Heater problem
2002 Chrysler Town and Country

We have Town and Country van with 86,000 miles on it. This winter the fan on the heater/ac is not working properly. When the temp is reached on the readout, the fan continues to run even though it has been shut off with the switch. We have tried to turn off the temp control system, tried lowering the fan speed, lowering the temp, but the fan continues at the med-high speed. This continues until the van is shut off completely. What is wrong with it?

Fairly common problem. The simple, reliable levers and cables have been replaced with an extremely complicated, unnecessary computer module. One of the features is a continuously variable fan speed instead of a three or four-speed fan controlled with a simple switch. People buy vehicles based on these gimmicks, but then are stuck with frequent high repair cost.

Sometimes new software can be installed to solve problems with the various computers but this must be done by the dealer. Still, it might be less expensive than replacing the entire modle.
